Las Vegas shooting

Daily blog: From a San Fransisco newspaper: "The Las Vegas concert shooting that killed dozens and injured hundreds Sunday weighed heavily on the minds of concert and festival organizers heading into an event-packed week in the Bay Area and spurred some ambivalence among those who long planned to attend the myriad festivities." Do you think the recent event will affect attendance at the outdoor concerts planned for Golden Gate Park? What are some things event organizers could do to reassure people who may be changing their mind about attending the festival?

Safety is a major key when deciding on where to go or what you're doing. If I had been planning on going to a concert and something like this happened then I definitely would not be going. If I did decide to go I would be paranoid the whole time I was there and I wouldn't be able to enjoy the concert. I think that this event will affect attendance at outdoor concerts because many people will have fear of it happening again. Event organizers could have more security teams there or build a something like a pavilion. They also could have many buildings around for safety purposes.

Hulu, NHL, TNT

Daily blog post: "Two days after inking a partnership with the NHL to stream the Stanley Cup Playoffs, Hulu announced Friday a marketing push that will feature its logo splashed across TNT’s broadcast of the NBA Playoffs.
Hulu’s ad spots will begin airing this Sunday and will last through TNT’s First Round, Conference Semifinals and Western Conference Finals coverage of the NBA Playoffs, during which Hulu will serve as TNT’s presenting sponsor.
As part of the deal with Turner Sports, Hulu will produce exclusive branded content featuring NBA on TNT’s on-air talent, who will highlight the breadth of Hulu’s live TV service."
Question - How does Hulu benefit from this arrangement? How does the NHL benefit? How does TNT benefit?

Hulu, NHL, and TNT all get advertising.

Ticket prices

Daily blog: In recent years the prices charged for tickets have skyrocketed:
Major college football games, such as Alabama vs Texas A&M, can cost $770 each.
New York Yankee fans can pay as much as $500 per seat.
Tickets to see singer Taylor Swift in concert range from $258 to $1358 apiece.
Why do you think tickets for concerts and sporting events cost so much?

I think that tickets cost this much because it takes a lot of money to put on these shows and for everyone to get paid and make revenue then the prices have to be more expensive. The more you pay the better the show you will receive.

Worst/Least effective promotion

Blog: Look at the promotions featured in the article linked below. Which promotion do you think is the worst/least effective? Why?

The promotion that was least effective would be the brittany spears one because she was an advocate for being a good parent but then was caught driving with her daughter on her lap which is not safe and illegal. She went back on everything she was trying to tell people to do. The Newark Bears made fun of the incident and many people got into the game free.
